MAGNUS RACING ENJOYS SUCCESSFUL TEST DEBUT

December 14, 2009 (Salt Lake City, Utah) – For the first time, the #44 Magnus Racing Porsche GT3 Cup turned a wheel as drivers John Potter and Craig Stanton enjoyed a successful two-day test during last week’s Rolex Sportscar Series test at Daytona International Speedway. Right away, the car was a standout – and not just for its bright British Racing Green paint.

Stanton, from Long Beach, California, quickly put the Porsche third on the timing and scoring monitors when the team hit the track for the first time on Tuesday. With speednot an issue, nor the ultimate factor in success for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the team spent the rest of the test experimenting with chassis setup and component testing. In the end, the team completed two days of trouble-free testing.

“Our big goal for this test was to get the team to work together for the first time,” said Stanton, who was a guest on Grand-Am Weekly last Tuesday to discuss how the team’s first day went. “We are all learning how to work with each other; some of us are familiar with each other, others are new. So this test was really about learning how everyone works and putting our systems in motion for the first time.”

Team owner John Potter, from Salt Lake City, Utah, will be driving in his second Rolex 24 at Daytona, and was pleased with his team’s performance in their first on-track appearance.

“Things went very well for Magnus Racing,” said Potter “Both Craig and I got plenty of seat time and our team made good progress with the car. Our reason for being at this test was to get everyone together for the first time so that we all become familiar with each other. As it turned out, we accomplished that and made some good progress on the car.”

The team will be back for the Roar Before the 24 in January, where it will announce its full driver lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
