Salt Lake City, UT (December 9, 2010)- Following a successful test at the Homestead-Miami Speedway last week, Magnus Racing heads in to December with all eyes focused on the upcoming Roar Before the Rolex 24 test in January.

Shaking down their brand new 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for the first time, the team was focused on one goal: developing the car.

“Since Craig and I were the only ones driving, our team focused purely on set-up and engineering,” stated John Potter, Team Owner and Driver of the no. 44. “We’re fortunate that all we had to worry about was developing the car. We noticed a lot of the other Porsche teams were either still settling in as entirely new organizations, or revolving multiple drivers as they plan for the year. This gave us a unique advantage because we’re essentially the same group as last year, so all we’re focused on is speed.”

Indeed, the goal was definitely met. During every session of the two day event, Magnus Racing was in the top-five, including drivers John Potter and Craig Stanton both running at the top of the time sheets on two respective sessions.

Under the watchful eye of ace engineer Lars Giersing, returning for the 2011 season, the team is headed in to Daytona full of confidence.

“The new car and the new tires are fantastic,” stated Craig Stanton, also back for 2011. “Lars, John Bedell, and all the guys on the team got us up to speed right away and we learned some very valuable information. I have a feeling we’re in very good shape for Daytona.”

With the next test taking place at Daytona, Magnus Racing will continue to tear down the car and focus on improvements, as well as examine further plans for a multi-car assault at Daytona. With the next test only weeks away, the team is still open to new opportunities for a multi-car program.

“We set our infrastructure this year to handle a multi-car program,” stated Potter. “Our business plan has always been to take a growing but measured approach to racing, and I’m very excited to show some new sponsors and drivers just what our organization is all about.”
