December 31, 2009 (Salt Lake City, UT) – The No.44 Magnus Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car raised some eyebrows with its form during the Rolex Sportscar Series’ December test at Daytona International Speedway, leading to much speculation about the team’s driver lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. With help from Porsche Motorsports North America, Magnus Racing is proud to announce their driver lineup for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Magnus Racing’s full-season drivers John Potter, from Salt Lake City, Utah and Craig Stanton, from Long Beach, California, will be joined by drivers Jeroen Bleekemolen and Richard Lietz.

Bleekemolen, twenty-eight years old from the Netherlands, is the reigning two-time series champion in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The Supercup utilizes a similar Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, giving Bleekemolen vast experience in the same kind of car he will drive in the Rolex 24. Endurance racing is also a specialty of Bleekemolen, as he co-drove the winning Porsche RS Spyder at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 2008. Bleekemolen was also at one time the driver for Team Netherlands in the A1GP.
Also joining Magnus Racing will be Porsche factory driver Richard Lietz. Lietz, twenty-six years old from Austria, is also a winner at the 24 Hours of LeMans and a runner-up in the GT class at last year’s Rolex 24. Lietz’s is also a vastly experienced endurance driver, having competed in a Porsche in every major endurance contest worldwide.

Team owner John Potter will be contesting his second Rolex 24, while Stanton has contested the endurance race numerous times with a best finish of fourth in 2005. Stanton is also a veteran of the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit LeMans.

“I am very proud that Porsche Motorsport has thought enough of our program to arrange for Jeroen and Richard to join us for the Rolex 24,” said Potter. “It is very exciting to share the No.44 Magnus Racing Porsche with Craig, Jeroen, and Richard for the Rolex 24. This is a very strong driver lineup and we are all very excited to head into the Roar Before the 24 next weekend and get to work with our Porsche drivers.”
